TURNING "SICK" ORGANIZATIONS AROUND
In the business I was in for a number of years, we had the assignment of doing our best to save "sick" companies, that were destined to go out of existence - unless we could save them. I would like you to understand what this entailed. I would like you to see what I learned that I can apply to our country so that all Americans are much more prosperous.
SAVING THE LOSS OF MANY JOBS
In saving "sick" companies, we would save the loss of many, many jobs - for everybody in the collapsing business would lose their jobs.
While the US has not fallen down into the unsavable category, we had to do some of the same things to the companies that we would have to do in the US: to get expenditures back in line with reality.
Of course, we also needed to increase the total revenue of the company by increasing growth, fixing the ability to grow, and to create customer confidence in the company's soundness and future.
Yes, we did find many of these companies to be bloated with unproductivity and too many people who were not contributing. And sometimes we had to do rapid surgery to save the patient's life - although we would cringe at having to do this, we knew it was better than the alternative.
Many times the number of employees would have to be reduced, in order to save the jobs of those remaining employees.
And, like a doctor with a very ill patient, we were not able to save all of them.
Of course, in order to be as successful as we got to be at this, we had to devise strategies and procedures (yes, we know it sounds boring) that would lead to good health and prosperity. I use the term "good health" here in the company sense just as I would for a person - as it is difficult to get down the road fast enough if we are unhealthy.
So we had to apply the "medical" procedures and teach the patient how to improve his health.
And it took us many years of revising and improving our knowledge and methods so that we could bring about the outstanding results, losing as few patients as possible.
The US government and the American people are together an "organization" with a mission of providing opportunity, freedom, safety, and prosperity for all. And we need an "Implementer In Chief" who already has learned and become accomplished at bringing about prosperity. It is not a "learn on the job" situation, for that is a slow and often dangerous strategy - we are not here to educate a person we like - we are here to have an effective, proven implementer and manager who has actively refined his expertise over many years.
It is your choice. I hope the above is understandable and that the perspective will help Americans to make better decisions on who to hire for the job - to conscientiously hire the right man for the job
