WHO ARE "THE MORMONS"?
THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS

My father was a "Jack Mormon", who smoked and drank and didn't really go to church, though I had some exposure to it.  My brother, who is an absolute angel, is a good mormon.  I've been around Mormons alot and they are good, high values people.  And there is nothing strange about them.  Though I do not share their beliefs, I do highly respect them and think they are excellent contributors to the good of this world.

Certainly there is nothing to fear from them.  Fundamentalist Christians should have no conflict with their values and their attestation to the validity of the Bible, along with their absolutle belief in the Constitution.

The only difference from other Christians (many of whom have differences between their subreligions and belief that their version is the only correct one) is that they have a belief (and a book) about Jesus coming over to America.  The Book Of Mormon tells the stories involved historically, not conflicting with the Bible.

They have super strong family values and community values, helping their own community AND doing a vast amount of helping the entire community around them, with extensive interfaith work also.

MORMON BELIEFS

From a site on Mormon beliefs:

“Mormon” is a nickname for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They believe in, hope in, rejoice in, and testify of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the World. Mormons attest to the validity of the Bible and modern-day revelation and have a core belief in the importance of eternal families. They assert that Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in 1820 with the express purpose of restoring His Church and gospel in its purity and fullness to the earth.
